This class covers topics in the Core and AHL (Additional Higher Level) parts of the syllabus and builds your confidence through rigorous preparation for Papers 1 and 2. You may choose to study DNA replication, photosynthesis, or something else – we let the class decide which topics to focus on. You will also be guided through Section A of Paper 3, on practical work, such as measuring the rate of transpiration from a potometer. To ensure that your time is used efficiently, Section B is not covered, as students will have studied for different options. If you need help with your option, we recommend getting the OSC Revision Guides.

All OSC classes are tailored to the needs of the group and provide a wealth of exam practice and advice on exam techniques.

ECONOMICS HL

Economics – a fascinating subject about the world around us; it studies the behaviour of consumers, firms, and governments in response to a world of unlimited wants and scarce resources. OSC’s Economics HL Revision Course helps you to review key topics, apply them to examination questions, and demonstrate your understanding to the examiners.

You will review topics from all parts of the syllabus – microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, and development economics – and prepare thoroughly for all three exam papers. You will learn appropriate strategies for tackling the papers. Whether it is an extended response question on interest rates and inflation in Paper 1, a data response question on exchange rates and the current account in Paper 2, or a question on calculating changing consumer surplus in Paper 3, the group decides together what to review.

All OSC classes are tailored to the needs of the group and provide a wealth of exam practice and advice on exam techniques.

MATHEMATICAL STUDIES SL

Love it or loathe it, maths is a vital skill for the IB Diploma Programme. OSC’s Maths Studies SL Revision Course helps you master the key points for all syllabus topics, from algebra to statistics.

This class teaches you how to formulate effective exam answers and maximise your marks. It guides you through a complex Paper 2 question and shows you how to organise your working to obtain easy marks, even for questions you are unable to fully answer. You may choose to review normal distribution, truth tables, calculus, or trigonometry – we let the group decide which areas to focus on. Just remember to bring your formula book and a fully charged graphics display calculator. It doesn’t matter which sort you have – TI84, nSpire, Casio or anything in between – our teachers will be able to help.

All OSC classes are tailored to the needs of the group and provide a wealth of exam practice and advice on exam techniques.

MATHEMATICS HL

Whether you enjoy the elegance and power of mathematics or are struggling with the basic principles, maths is a vital skill for the IB Diploma Programme. OSC’s Maths HL Revision Course will help you understand the key skills required by each of the topics, and then guide you on using these skills through work on past examination questions.

This class will review a large proportion of the Core syllabus: this could be integration techniques and applications, the intersection of lines and planes, or something else – we let the group decide which areas to focus on. Exam practice includes short and long answer questions, with and without a calculator, so that you feel equally comfortable with Papers 1 and 2. The course will review the knowledge needed for success in the earlier parts of the paper, and give you the techniques and confidence required when tackling the unfamiliar questions at the end of the papers. It will advise you on how to make the best use of your 5-minute reading time and will go through the most common errors that students are subject to. To ensure that your time is used efficiently, the Options are not covered, as students will have studied different options. If you need help with your option, we recommend getting the OSC Revsion Guides. Don’t forget to bring your GDC and your formula book!

All OSC classes are tailored to the needs of the group and provide a wealth of exam practice and advice on exam techniques. Because many students come to our courses, we can often place students in classes with other students of comparable ability in the subject.

CONSENT TO TRAVEL LETTER

It is recommended that students who are under 18 and are flying without parental supervision carry a letter from their parent/guardian giving consent for them to travel alone. More and more airlines are asking to see these letters at check in. The letter should include:

  • your dates of travel and return
  • where you will be travelling to
  • where you will be staying
  • parental consent to travel alone.

OSC enjoys a very positive relationship with King's College London and is in a fantastic position to make use of their resources. However, OSC is an independent company separate from the College. OSC contracts with the College for the use of facilities, but has no formal connection with King's College London.
